The Tauranga Whetū Star Awards celebrate excellence and talent in our community, honoring individuals who shine brightly in their chosen music genre, Country Music
**History:**
The Star Awards were established in 1976 to recognize and reward outstanding contributions, bringing together a diverse array of talented individuals from various backgrounds.
From 1976 until October 2022 the event grew in prestige, becoming a hallmark of excellence.
In 2022 it went into a "hiatus" at the request of the previous Convenor and in 2023 at the request of the New Zealand Country Music Association a new Convenor was appointed.
**Mission:**
The conception of the Tauranga Whetū Star Awards was driven by a desire to uplift and celebrate remarkable achievements by newly appointed Convenor, Tracey-Maree Houia, who also created the Tauranga Whetū Star Charitable Trust along with appointing a dedicated and experienced Committee.
Our mission is to inspire, encourage, and support those who strive for greatness, fostering a spirit of unity and excellence in our Country Music community and throughout Aotearoa and beyond.
